fifthplay Technologies & Architecture

Architecture

The essence of fifthplay’s solution is an IP-standards-based platform which actively monitors and communictates with various devices in the home, via an internet connection. The platform enables customers and service partners to monitor and control various sensors, appliances and devices in the home or business, through an easy-to-use web services portal.

Our e-Services platform architecture is based on the following component layers:

  • Various devices and sensors are present in the home (e.g. camera, heart monitor,...).
  • These devices are linked and managed via a small IP-gateway called fifthplay Gateway.
  • The fifthplay Gateway is connected to the broadband internet provider.
  • Data and transactions are processed on fifthplay’s fifthplay Core e-Services aggregation platform.
  • Our partners’ IT systems interact with the fifthplay Core to deliver an enhanced services layer.
  • End-users can monitor and control their e-Services using any web-browser enabled device, for example our fifthplay Touchscreen.

More info about each component can be found via the left menu.

fifthplay pre-requisites

In order to be able to access and use the fifthplay services, customers need to have a broadband internet connection in their home, with a minimum upload speed of 256 Kbit/s and a minimum download speed of 1 Mbit/s. Most standard broadband subscriptions available from internet providers today meet these requirements.
Customers also need to have a Windows personal computer with a supported internet browser, either Internet Explorer (minimum version 6.0) or Firefox (minimum version 2.0).
